Enterprise Stability, Open Source Freedom
OpenSearch long term support (LTS) vendors provide your organization with a supported, secure, production-ready version of OpenSearch with a predictable maintenance window, backed by vendors certified by the OpenSearch Software Foundation.
Why LTS matters for the enterprise
Running OpenSearch in production means your team needs confidence that the version you deploy today will be supported through your release cycle. LTS removes the pressure to chase every upstream release and gives your security and compliance teams a clear, documented support commitment.
No licensing fees. No vendor lock-in. Just stable, supported open source software backed by a vendor-neutral foundation.
What Is OpenSearch LTS?
OpenSearch LTS versions are major releases designated by the OpenSearch Software Foundation for extended maintenance support. Each LTS version is maintained for a minimum of 18 months from its initial release date, covering OpenSearch core, dashboards, and the security plugin.
OpenSearch LTS is designed for organizations that need stability, predictability, and formal support commitments without giving up the freedom of open source.
What LTS includes
Security patch coverage
Medium and higher CVEs are addressed within 60 days of public disclosure. High and critical severity vulnerabilities are patched within 30 days.
Bug fix commitments
Major bugs identified by the OSSF are resolved by certified vendors within 60 days of notification.
Zero-downtime upgrade paths
Certified LTS vendors are required to provide rolling restart or zero-downtime upgrade paths between LTS versions.
Transparency
Vendors publish quarterly State of Support reports to the OSSF community, covering patch velocity and resolved issues.
How LTS works
Here is how it works:
- Consider joining the OpenSearch Software Foundation as a member.
- Select an OpenSearch Software Foundation-certified LTS vendor from the vendor directory.
- Work directly with your vendor under a formal support agreement.
The commercial relationship is between you and your chosen vendor. The OpenSearch Software Foundation certifies and maintains the list of approved providers, refers member inquiries to approved vendors only, and reserves the right to revoke vendor certification at its discretion.
Certified LTS vendors
OpenSearch Software Foundation-certified LTS vendors are the only providers authorized to deliver official long-term support for OpenSearch. Each vendor on this list has agreed to the OpenSearch Software Foundation LTS Vendor SLA, including patch timelines, upgrade path requirements, and quarterly community reporting.
For vendors
Want to offer LTS support to OpenSearch users? OpenSearch Software Foundation-certified LTS vendors receive official recognition, inclusion in the vendor directory, member referrals from the OpenSearch Software Foundation, use of the LTS approved badge, and the ability to market themselves as an official OpenSearch Software Foundation-approved LTS provider.
Certified vendors agree to maintain all LTS versions for the full 18-month support window, contribute upstream where possible, and meet the patch and reporting standards defined in the OpenSearch Software Foundation LTS Vendor SLA.
